More than meets the eye

One of the by-products of drawing near to God is that it gives you a glimpse of his plans. You will hear of his desires as your proximity to the father gives you instant recognition of his hand at work.
What God has touched you will see come to life. When God is poised to do something monumental your heart will swell in anticipation as you bear down in prayer.
All of this means that you will see significance in what others consider circumstantial or coincidental. Behind every event God begins to say something. Nothing is mere happenstance.
You begin to see beyond what others see and this new vision is reflected in your life. What would make others frustrated you seem to take in stride, praises and thanks flow from your lips for things others would not want happening to them. In everything that occurs an unwavering truth resounds: There is more than meets the eye.
Brothers and sisters, the importance of spiritual vision can never be overstated. It dwarfs the physical vision in all its importance and ramifications for our lives. A blind man will not see anything on this earth-This is daunting, but nothing to be compared with the spiritually blind who may never see heaven as a result.
The bible says: Because of lack of vision my people suffer. Hosea 4:6
I think it is important that we as Christians open our eyes and see the hand of God in our lives. But to do this we must first leave our hearts open to God and let the spirit lead us in the recognition of God’s plans unfolding before us.
I remember when I started my Masters program, throughout the whole process my mother kept telling me to see the hand of God working in my life and I took her advice. I started to see that all those people who helped me along the way were messengers from God, all the difficulties and obstacles I faced were God’s hands making me stronger. Nothing was wasted. No experience, no momentary fear or weakness was for naught. I began to see how God was using all of it to the glory of his name.
We live in a very cynical world. A lot of the things we claim through faith are disputed by scientists and called fairy tales by atheists. Our brothers and sisters of various faiths tell us their way is the truth. And at first it may seem difficult to claim that no matter where you go or what you see God’s hand in your life is written all over it. Brothers and sisters we have to claim this. The wonder of it all lies in the fact that it is absolutely independent of our triumphs and failures, hardships and victories. God is not constrained by these things. The bible says that “All things work out for good for those who love and trust him”. Romans 8:28
This basically means that:
ü Your disappointment will work out for good for you if you love and trust God
ü Your sickness will work out for good in your life if you love and trust God
ü Your obstacle will work out for good in your life if you love and trust God
ü My friend, your situation will work out for good in your life if you love and trust God
ü You get the point…
MY NEICES: SOMADINA & DIDI

Lately when I talk to God I have been telling him how artistic he is. God is so creative. But of course he is! Is he not the creator? Is he not the maker of heaven and earth? Who else could have envisioned these things? Who else could have so effectively solved the problem of sin through the masterful coming of our lord Jesus Christ who gave us life?
I tell God these things because lately by his grace I have been able to experience his plan for me falling intricately into place. This is not to say that I have not seen difficulties or that my life has been a bed of roses, but this means that even in hardships I see and understand the need for them. I could spend a lifetime speaking on all of the things God has shown me as I search eagerly for his hand but listing them is not crucial to this message. However I will briefly speak on one thing that God used my four year old niece Didi to show me.
One of the ways God speaks to me is through obstacles. In my life and in the lives of others I am now sure, whenever God is about to do something wonderful obstacles seem to spring out of nowhere. On the prelude to God’s blessings the devil gets antsy and seeks to disrupt and make us lose heart right before we receive our blessings. If you are spiritually blind you will get frustrated at the hardship surfacing at such a crucial time…if you see the hand of God you will know that your blessing is at hand. Your reaction may be all the difference.
My niece had surgery on her finger last Tuesday. The orthopedic doctors needed to go in and examine the bone structure for a possible foreign body and they asked my sister not to give her food or water to drink between 12 midnight and 11am the next morning when she would go in for surgery. “Well that’s no problem” we thought. My nieces typically sleep late and wake up late, so we thought we’d just wake her up late and take her to the hospital an hour before the surgery.
But on the morning of the surgery, something happened which had never happened in the months since my sister and my nieces had come to stay with us.
At about 4:30am on the morning of the surgery, I feel someone tapping my shoulder. I wake up in a sleepy haze, and I see my niece Didi wide-awake staring at me. The next words I heard would make my heart drop: Uncle Wendu I want water. The first thing I thought was: Of all the nights, why this one?
You see it was 4:30 in the morning and the surgery wasn’t until 11am. If she was thirsty now…
When my sister came she also said she wanted cereal. How do you tell a little child that she cannot eat or even drink water?
Brothers and sisters there is no limit to the cruelty that the enemy will level against us. After my sister pacified and put a cartoon for her daughter to watch, I sat down beside my sister and told her what I saw in what had just happened. I told her that this is all the proof we need that the mountain that the devil placed before us is on the verge of falling. Didi’s healing was at hand. Beyond even that, various breakthroughs upon which we have prayed and fasted are near. God’s blessing is springing up all over the place, and the devil in his inability to stop it would trouble us by waking up this poor little girl at 4:30 in the morning.
The hand of God was plain; and it was beautiful in our sight.
My nieces’ surgery went well and I have put up some of the pictures up for you all to see. As I write this she is next to me writing on the cast on her hand. She has been very playful and we are thankful to God for her life and the life of her older sister Somadina who though only 5yrs old has been a wonderful big sister. God has used them to show me so many things. Didi has even memorized many of the gospel songs I play and asks me to play them all the time.
I tell you this my friends because it is my sincere hope that you see that when the obstacles come we should always know that God is still in control and there is more than meets the eye. No matter how trivial, insignificant or daunting the occurrence may seem, if you look hard enough you will find the hand of God written all over it. He is omnipresent.
May you see the hand of God in your lives now and forever, in Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
