Good things gone wrong

This is a heeding to the bibles instruction that we be not ignorant of the devices of the enemy, even as we exist in an age unprecedented in the dizzying amount of devices that the enemy has at his disposal.

These devices are multiplying with the speed of technology as newer ways of getting the children of God to forsake their king are introduced into this world. Every new luxury is one more opportunity to esteem a thing greater than God, every new gadget or device becomes a chance to give one more vice to the ones who are ignorant. The hang man’s noose around a person neck now bears the resemblance of a pearl studded necklace as things become less and less of what they seem.

And now, in precisely this season I am ever so thankful for the knowledge of God, whereby I can feel a moving in my spirit, desperation in my heart to tell my brothers and sisters that it is the devils intent to make you a pale reflection of what you were meant to be, to rob you of your praise that you might miss the mark of your existence.

Surely he would rather make you the complete opposite of all that God has envisioned for you, but we live in a special time in human history. A time when God has made provisions for us that those who came before us did not know. Days long spoken of by the prophet Joel “Afterwards I will pour out my Spirit on everyone: your sons and daughters will proclaim my message; your old people will have dreams and your young people will see visions”. Joel 2:28 And before that the Prophet Joel says “Be glad people of Zion, rejoice at what the Lord your God has done for you. He has given you the right amount of autumn rain, he has poured down the winter rain for you and the spring rain as before” Joel 2:23

Rain here is a metaphor for God’s abundant grace and anointing which will be the “right amount in autumn…but will POUR down in winter”. Brother and sisters, the closer it gets to the end, the more devices the enemy throws at the children of God, the heavier the rain comes down from heaven! To the end that when it is winter, when the year is far spent and the night is pitch black. When the day lasts but two hours and the night is bitter cold and the land is scorched with a famine so terrible…the drizzles of summer and the “right amount” of autumn will be the overflow and downpour of God’s grace in the winter.

At this time, we will not live in the glory and memory of last year’s miracles, we will not reminisce on anointing that’s been poured out, we will bask in the glory of fresh miracles, new anointing. How do I know this? God said it and my spirit affirms it - Isaiah 43:18 “Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old for I will do a new thing. Shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and I will make rivers in the desert”.

Consider for a moment what God was telling the Israelites to forget about. God had brought them out of Egypt with a mighty hand, parted the red sea, driven out all their enemies, pulled down the walls of Jericho. But here God is telling the Children of Israel that they cannot dwell on those things for he will do a new thing!

The counterfeit you

Brothers and sisters, today God is doing new things. Things that have allowed children of God to stand fast in an age like this. And so when making you the opposite of what you were meant to be is out of the question, the enemy will try to change you slightly. Consider a plane flying straight to a destination, a turn might be slight but over a long distance it will take it entirely to a different destination. This my friends is what God has put in my heart to say – There is a change that goes unnoticed, it could be a habit we drop or one we pick up, a friend we make or one we drop. A job we take or a place we move to…a thing which in and of itself is not a sin but is simply not what God had in mind when he created you.

And what does the counterfeit you look like? It looks like the fruit whose purpose and fulfillment is found in being a source of nourishment…but ends up staying on the tree a season too long. And as the season passes and winter comes it gets too ripe and begins to rot. When it is ripe it is pretty and attractive, but if it stays on the tree just one extra day, week, month, then the very same ripeness turns to decay.

Look around you. We were made to worship God, and everything that we are, every breath we take should be in worship and praise to God. But we see talents that are used in the pursuit of riches, happiness, fame, love…instead of in the pursuit of the glory of God. And when the riches come, when happiness and fame comes, when the love of this world is there in abundance…these one’s look like that ripe fruit on the tree; attractive to behold. But there is no purpose to their existence as decay sets in they eventually fall to earth.

The Real you

This is the you that God purposed. The real you is living on purpose, serving God and trusting in his everlasting mercy. I pray that you purpose again in your heart to let God have his perfect way in your life. The enemy walks around with pots of porridge seeking who will receive it in exchange for their birthright. Test all things; prayerfully weigh all matters as you let God preside over the issues in your life.

Then my friends…the real you can go confidently before God and say as David did at the end of Psalm 16 “Thou will not leave my soul in hell…nor suffer thine holy one to see decay. Thou will show me the path of life….for in thy presence is fullness of joy and at thy right hand there are mercies forevermore”.

At a moment last night…as I sang a song of praise with a friend…my heart stopped and acknowledged to the Lord my God…this O’Lord is why you made me.

Praise God. God bless you...
